Oklahoma NDNQI Collaborative

The Oklahoma NDNQI Collaborative is a group of health care organizations within Oklahoma interested in comparing NDNQI data for the purposes of improving nursing care. Ten facilities orginally signed agreements.  The concept for this collaborative emerged from a group of Oklahoma hospital nurse leaders working together on a conference to promote Magnet designation. As part of the planning, discussion centered on use of the NDNQI database and the potential benefits of having an Oklahoma report. The development of this Collaborative has been over the last several years.

Initally the Oklahoma Nurses Association (ONA) began work with American Nurses Association (ANA) to explore the feasibility of developing such a report. To date, ONA and ANA’s National Center for Nursing Quality (NCNQ®) have agreed to facilitate the preparation of an Oklahoma NDNQI report that will be made available to hospitals interested in participating in the Oklahoma NDNQI Collaborative.   This provides hospitals in Oklahoma with a unique opportunity to advance nursing care within our state utilizing our own data. Thus beginning a process we believe could lead to collaboration in the area of quality improvement, promoting evidence based practice and research initiatives. We anticipate opportunities to discuss de-identified data during face-to-face and tele-conference meetings.

The Oklahoma NDNQI Collaborative is open to all Oklahoma facilities participating in NDNQI.  If you are not participating in NDNQI click here to learn more.  In addition to the fees paid to NDNQI there is a one time fee of $1,250 associated with this initiative that covers obtaing de-identified data from NDNQI for those facilities participating as well other development and travel costs.  ANA, NCNQ and ONA will not disclose individual facility’s participation in this project. A critical aspect of the planning with ANA and NCNQ has been to ensure that the process protects the identity of individual facility data. If you would have questions or would like more information on the Oklahoma NDNQI Collaborative contact ONA Executive Director, Jane Nelson by email or phone 405.84.3476.
