ONA Region 2 Award Nominations Now Open
ONA Region 2 is accepting nominations for the annual awards that will be presented at our awards luncheon on April 10, 2026. Awards nominations must be received by March 17, 2026.
We are accepting nominations for the following awards:
Nursing Research Award
Nursing Research Award will be conferred on a Region 2 member who has made a significant impact on nursing practice using research as a basis for practice innovation. Significant impact on nursing practice means that the nurse has contributed to the creation and/or utilization of nursing knowledge and has improved or created a plan for improving clinical nursing practice and/or patient outcomes in response to the findings. The award is accompanied by a plaque.
Nursing Impact on Public Policy
Nursing Impact on Public Policy Award will be conferred on a Region 2 member whose activities are above and beyond those of the general nursing community to further the presence of nursing in the community and/or to accomplish positive policy changes for the nursing profession. The award is accompanied by a plaque.
Nightingale Award of Excellence
Nightingale Award of Excellence is conferred on a Region 2 member who has: Demonstrated innovative strategies so as to fulfill job responsibilities and/or role responsibilities in their professional role and within the community they work and live. Consistently surpass expectations of a professional nurse; thus, enhancing the image of nursing as a profession. Demonstrates sustained and substantial contribution to the Oklahoma Nurses Association. Served as a role model of consistent excellence in their area of practice. Other professional behaviors, such as mentoring, advocacy, research conduction or utilization, publications and presentations should also be demonstrated throughout his/her career. The award is accompanied by a plaque.
Excellence in Workplace Environment
Excellence in Workplace Environment Award is conferred on an organization in the Region 2 area that has developed a positive work environment for nurses. The organization must have developed an innovative and effective approach or program that promotes excellent nursing care, creating a positive environment for nurses to work and supporting nurses in their practice. The award is accompanied by a plaque.
Friend of Nursing Award
Friend of Nursing Award is conferred on a non-nurse in the region who has rendered valuable assistance to the nursing profession. The award is accompanied by a plaque.
The narrative statement should detail the accomplishments of the nominee and be presented concisely. The narrative statement is weighed most heavily in the selection process and should reflect how the individual has met the criteria for the specific award.
For consideration of a state level award, 2 letters of support and a current CV/Resume for the nominee are required.
